A Wisconsin Notary is an individual, issued an appointment, by the Secretary of the Department of Financial Institutions to serve the public as an impartial witness, performing notarial acts as are allowed or required by law.

Under Wisconsin law, the signer must personally appear before a notary at the time of the notarization. This means a face-to-face visit with a Notary Public.
